A brand new look, platforms, crap art, and kittens

I've finally managed to achieve the setup I've been wanting for this webserver, which meant switching softwares, setting up Apache, and getting really comfortable with NGINX configuration files, which was, by all means, uncomfortable. I think of all my programming projects, this one was the most miserable.

I did make these Chinese Walnut Cookies, which were tasty, for the International Friendship Club meeting, and they were a hit. Very easy, too, just don't forget the egg-wash and brown sugar! I made a batch of very bland crackers that way.

  1. The Quiet Death of Ello’s Big Dreams. I did enjoy this piece, and I think it's an important read, especially in this era of platform birth-and-demise. It's easy to get excited about new software and communities, but it's important to be aware of this as a possibility (users losing years of work).
  2. Betteridge's law of headlines. Not only is this true for news articles, but YouTube videos also.
  3. Make Crap Art, and make a lot of it. Related, SOFA: Start Often, Finish Rarely.
  4. Bears Discover Fire, a short fiction piece I wish I had discovered earlier. It ought to have left me with bugging questions, but it didn't. The unanswered was able to sit quietly and comfortably in my mind for me to admire. I recommend it, if you haven't already read it.
  5. An essay-writing motivator for cat people, credit to my friend for finding this. I'll be using it tonight, that's for sure.

Thank you for reading! Oh and you'll have to re-subscribe to the RSS if you use that.
